I agree about the general being the right man for the job there -- I want someone to shoot them like the morons they are, but I would just think it would be better to let somebody else hold the microphone.
Patriot, I missed where we have any 'substance' in the current regime, er, administration. I see a former drug-using, draft-avoiding, token-educated, talking head in the big chair, just like we had before. Where Clinton was slick, Bush is disarming and sincere. Aside from that and the de riguer policy differentiation between Democrats and Republicans, I can't see how we're too much better off.
Powell, Rumsfeld and Rice seem to be assets, but my God, look at Cheney and Ashcroft. Sort of hard to balance out that scale. Secretary Ridge, by all accounts, did an outstanding job as governor of Pennsylvania, but EPA head Whitman did an outstanding job as governor of New Jersey and she has not been able to reign in the Green Machine since taking it over, and Ridge has a much more formidable task.
Throw in the resignations, in-fighting and back-stabbing at the IRS, SEC and Treasury Deaprtment, whattya get? Looks a whole lot like Clinton's third term to me.
